Skoda Auto is currently doing extensive testing on the third generation Fabia. The car has been spotted again almost undisguised. The test mule is wearing uni-colored body wraps revealing the overall layout of the vehicle. On the design front, the upcoming Fabia features heavy resemblance with the new Octavia. The vehicle rides on heavily re-engineered current Fabia's platform. The 3rd generation Fabia is reported to make its world debut at the 2014 Paris Motor Show in October. About the Indian debut, expect it to land later this year or early 2015.
What we can extract from the image is the car features new family grille, rectangular wrap-around headlamps that are very faintly visible from the body wrap of the test mule. Speaking about the side profile, the new Fabia features Octavia borrowed elusively altered OVRMs along with Octavia esque window line. The 3rd gen Fabia looks a tad bigger compared to the on-going model. Current vehicle is already spacious with enormous boot space, making it more spacious will definitely be a plus point for the Czech automaker at-least in India! The dash will borrow inspirations from the one in Octavia and the European version of the Rapid. The Indian Skoda Rapid will also get thorough facelift this year and it is likely to share the interiors with the upcoming hatch.
Mechanically, the vehicle will share its powertrains with the upcoming Polo facelift. The new Polo is ditching the current 1.2 liter TDI unit and is coming with a brand new 1.5 liter TDI diesel motor. The engine produces nearly 89bhp while the torque will exceed the 200Nm mark. In a nutshell, the new Fabia will offer host of new features and if Skoda India prices the vehicle right, this will certainly be the pick of the lot.
