Audi A3 has been announced as the World Car of the Year at the New York Motor Show. The Audi A3 beat Mazda3 and BMW 4 Series. Other awards given out were World Green Car of the Year, to the BMW i3, the i3 is also the World Car Design of the Year. The BMW i3 was competing against the Audi A3 Sportback G-Tron, Audi E-Gas and the Volkswagen XL1 for the World Green Car of the Year award. In the design category BMW i3’s competitors were Mazda3 and Mercedes-Benz C-Class. Porsche 911 GT3 was named World Performance Car of the Year, and The Mercedes-Benz S-Class was named World Luxury Car of the Year. The Mercedes S-Class beat Bentley Flying Spur and the Land Rower Range Rover Sport, while the Porsche 911 GT3 won against the Corvette Stingray and the Ferrari Speciale. Nominations for the World Car awards were announced at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
